Boring Oatmeal! I would love to have some boring oatmeal! I have not added that back into my diet. That is too much starch for the initial stages according to most recommended diets.

I have 2 Protein Shakes I have been using. The first by Metagenics called Ultra Clear Sustain. It is a true medical food, not just a supplement. It is also unique because it includes nutrition specifically designed to repair the intestinal wall health for those with leaky gut. It is one of most expensive as well and is only sold to practitioners. However, the loophole with most professional supplements is a licensed practitioner can distribute the product through their own website. So there are a few online stores where you can buy these supplements without having to see the Doctor.

My doctor I am seeing at the moment in Virginia carries this as well as my Doctor in New Mexico. It is an awesome product. It is formulated to be non allergenic as well and if you are doing an elimination to test for food sensitivities, this one is recommended. I believe when doing the Candida Diet everyone should be paying attention to the elimination/allergy factors. Ultra Clear Sustain is formulated to exclude: wheat, gluten, corn protein, soy protein, egg, dairy, nuts, tree nuts, shellfish, colors, artificial sweeteners, and artificial flavors. It is on my approved food list given to me by my current doctor for yeast elimination as well even though it has 10 grams of sugar, from rice syrup solids.

My second choice, Nutribiotics Rice Protein, is much cheaper and only has one gram of sugar. It has slightly less protein, 12 grams compared to the 15 grams in Ultra Clear, and it does not have all the added gut repair ingredients like the prebiotics FOS, inulin, and aminos L-Glutamine. It is also not a medical food.

Now prior to the Candida Diet I would have made a smoothie with my favorite sweetened vanilla rice milk. Now I use water or Trader Joes has an Organic Whole Grain Drink with 0 grams sugar or unsweetened vanilla rice milk or unsweetened soy milk.

In the first phase it is best to just use water but the second phase, when you start introducing more foods, use the unsweetened milks from the approved list. Pay attention if you try soy because soy is one of the potential allergy foods. Rice is used in the most sensitive protein substitutions.

As far as yeast killing antibacterial/antifungal supplements, my doctor has me on the prescription anti-fungal Diflucan. Now keep in mind I have chosen to work this this doctor because he is a specialist in treating Lyme Disease and Candida. He is an MD. Dr Warren Levin. He is not afraid to recommend a very large amount of natural supplements but when it comes to killing a chronic yeast infection he feels a 30 day course of Diflucan is best. Most anti-bacteria methods work topically to kill the yeast in the gut. Diflucan works through the blood and is effective at getting the roots of the infection that may be living the intestinal wall. If I were not prepping myself for Lyme treatment, which includes the use of some heavy and often long term anti-biotics, I would probably just opt for a natural route unless you have already been down this road and you know you have a chronic problem that you can't seem to get under control. Diflucan is the strongest drug available.

If you follow a strict diet and use a natural antibiotic and take pro and pre biotics, you are covering your bases. Of course how well you actually do on your diet is individual. A couple of clinics I have worked with in New Mexico, the Wholistic Kinesiology Clinic and Dr. George Simmons DC as well as other, like an oil of oregano based nutraceutical named ADP. ADP is manufactured by Biotics and is only available to professionals but as I mentioned you can find it online. There are several others that may work as well but that is a favorite. The important thing is to use one or try a couple over time, along with your diet. I also know several practitioners that like to use Pau D Arco as part of the protocol. I buy tea bags. There is a strong anti parasitic property to the Pau D Arco bark.

I am getting pre biotics from the Ultra Clear Sustain and my current Doctor suggested Original Medicine brand Multi Pro Biotic as well.

Look for the yeast free diet recommendations to be added in the next couple days.

Hang in there, it gets much easier after the first week or so. The anti candida cleansing diet really awakens your senses and can help shape a long term healthy eating regimen. I am reminded that it takes a month or so to change a habit. Kicking a sugar/carb addiction can be tough but rewarding. Over the years I have learned and retrained myself to just eat healthier naturally, even when not following a strict diet.

Hello,

I was just wondering what kind of Protein Shake you are drinking? Is it okay to drink during the Candida cleanse? Also, what kind of Candida cleansing pills are you taking?

I'm on day 3 of my cleanse and let me tell you I am dying for an orange, a cookie, a muffin, anything other than this boring oatmeal I eat...grrrr. And like you I'm hungry all day long.

Thanks and good luck!
